Hamburg has always been a city where culture refuses to stand still. From the legendary clubs and theatres of St. Pauli to the Elbphilharmonie, Kampnagel and the city’s thriving galleries, cinemas and independent venues, music and creativity are woven into the fabric of the Hanseatic city. Hamburg’s festival calendar reflects that diversity, with everything from jazz and electronic music to film, literature, theatre and contemporary art.

At the heart of this cultural landscape sits the Reeperbahn Festival. Founded in 2006, the festival has grown from a celebration of emerging music into one of Europe’s most important showcases for new talent and pop culture. Every September, the clubs, concert halls, cinemas, galleries and unconventional spaces around St. Pauli become a sprawling festival playground, bringing artists, audiences and music-industry professionals together under one roof – or, more accurately, across dozens of them.

Over the years, the festival has become renowned for giving audiences the chance to see tomorrow’s stars before they break through. Bon Iver, Ed Sheeran, Aurora, Sigrid, Lewis Capaldi and Kraftklub are among the artists who have played Reeperbahn Festival before reaching much bigger stages.

Reeperbahn Festival 2026 takes over Hamburg from September 16-19, turning St. Pauli into an international meeting point for music and culture. Across around 70 venues, expect four days of concerts spanning indie, rock, pop, electronic, hip-hop, soul, jazz, folk and beyond – alongside film, literature, art, talks and industry events.
