Conan Gray has made a career out of turning teenage heartbreak, loneliness and nostalgia into huge, cinematic pop songs. What started with bedroom videos and confessional YouTube vlogs has grown into one of modern pop’s most compelling success stories – without losing the intimate connection that got him there.
Gray first made waves online with covers, vlogs and early original songs before breaking through with his 2018 EP Sunset Season. Then came Kid Krow in 2020, a sharp and deeply personal debut that crashed into the Billboard 200 Top Five and delivered “Heather” – the bittersweet, instantly recognisable anthem that became his signature.
With 2022’s Superache, Gray pushed his sound further into widescreen pop, pairing brutally honest songwriting with bigger arrangements. Found Heaven followed in 2024, bringing an even glossier, more dramatic edge. Then came Wishbone in 2025, his fourth studio album and another leap forward. Produced alongside Dan Nigro, Ethan Gruska, Noah Conrad, Luka Kloser and Elvira Anderfjärd, the record found Gray balancing emotional candour with full-scale pop ambition. It debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Album Sales chart and inside the Billboard 200 Top Three – his biggest sales week to date.
Now boasting more than 12 billion global streams and sold-out shows at Madison Square Garden, the Kia Forum and Wembley Arena, Gray has well and truly graduated from his YouTube bedroom. But the songs remain personal, even when the stages get enormous.
Now the Wishbone World Tour is heading to New Zealand. Rising pop artist Esha Tewari joins as special guest for the September 2026 dates, culminating in Auckland on Saturday, September 26, when Gray takes over Spark Arena.
Expect giant pop production, emotional singalongs and the kind of songs that made Gray a star in the first place, only now, on a much bigger stage.
