The Stories Behind ‘The Way We Are’ And Filming With A Snake: Interview with Cory Wells

I was fortunate enough to have a quality sit down with the very talented Cory Wells ahead of his intimate gig at St Pancras Old Church where he performed flawless renditions of his songs off his debut album “The Way We Are”.

In between bibles, candle sticks and a Holy Water tap, Cory and I discuss the making of his record, in particular “Keiko” (definitely not a reference to “Free Willy”), “Harbor” (probably one of the most honest and vulnerable moments I’ve shared with an artist while doing an interview) and “Wildfire” – the video of which featured Pandora, a 10-year old snake. (Snake years or human years, you decide)

Good news for us Europeans – Cory hints he will be back before the end of a year, potentially with his full band. Until then, enjoy The Way We Are and try to catch him live before you cry about how his shows sell out before you got a ticket

About Sophie Dobschall

German-bred, (ex?-)London-based, not American. Likes high quality banter and video interviews with a dash of photo pit. Feed her loud, sad emo bangers all day every day. Andrew W.K.’s party tips should be anyone’s life philosophy. Does not care that you hate her favorite band, Canadian pop-punk legends Simple Plan. Fight me.
