Yours Truly: Bold vocals and classic pop punk vibes from Sydney

Tammy Walters November 17, 2020

Not just an adoring letter sign off, Yours Truly are an adored Sydney pop punk outfit.

Formed in 2016, the band have forged a name for themselves on the global touring circuit with major festivals Download UK, Riot Fest, Slam Dunk, Good Things and Sad Summer under the sleeve, and they secured support slots with Sum 41, Senses Fail and State Champs. To add sugar to the already sweet deal, Yours Truly sold out all of their headline hometown shows for their past tours prior to the pesky pandemic stunting live music in Australia.

It all started with their 2017 debut single “Winter” off of EP “Too Late For Apologies”. The track took over Spotify playlist “Pop Punk’s Not Dead” and their follow-up single “Strangers” landed rotation of prominent Australia radio station Triple J on the ShortFastLoud segment. January of 2018 saw the band shoot high with “High Hopes”, a song that not only put Yours Truly on the map but projected Mikaila Delgado into the forefront for her larger than life vocals which have been likened to that of Paramore powerhouse pocket rocket, Hayley Williams. Included in the “Afterglow”  EP alongside “I Can’t Feel It”, “Circles” and the mammoth title track, “High Hopes” hit over 6 million streams, and the EP rolled in 8.5 million streams.

Whilst 2020 has been a write-off year all round, Yours Truly provided a much-needed light in the darkness with the appropriately titled debut album “Self Care”. Leading in with singles “Funeral Home”, “Composure”, “Together” and “Undersized”, “Self Care” has been flagged as a major contender for the title of one of the best albums of 2020. They also took on Triple J’s Like A Version, covering Oasis classic, “Don’t Look Back In Anger”, another glimmer of sunshine for our dull year.

Once touring and festivals get back off the ground, you’ll see us front and centre in the Yours Truly pit, ready for the onslaught of new songs!
