Matija: Killer melodies and arrangements to stave off monotony

J.N. September 28, 2020

One of the reasons to visit showcase festivals is to discover those bands that have been hidden in the dark for a while, bands that deserve far more attention. Some bands are new, others just haven’t reached out to the right audience yet. That’s what often happens Messed!Up at Reeperbahn Festival and we leave the festival every year with four or five bands that smashed us to the ground. This is one of those stories from this year’s edition of the festival.

Almost ten years ago a few young lads from Munich joined forces, picked up their gear, and started to play indie pop music inspired by Two Door Cinema Club and Foals. Poppy guitars and banger choruses made up for some really infectious indie pop music. Quite soon the lads were picked up by Hamburg label Clouds Hill and in 2017 they released killer debut album “Are We An Electric Generation Falling Apart?” with some amazingly crafted songs, just like “White Socks” and ” – our favorite – “5th Avenue”. Now, three years later and after four single releases in 2020, it’s time for their sophomore album “byebyeskiesofyesterday”.

On October 9th you’ll find the album in your local record store (or on their website) but we recommend you to start listen through their music at Spotify today already! Prep for something great coming out in less than two weeks!

About The Author

Music researcher with an unhealthy passion for music and music festivals. Former studio owner, semi-functional drummer and with a fairly good collection of old analogue synthesizers from the 70's. Indie rock, post rock, electronic/industrial and drum & bass (kind of a mix, yeah?) are usual stuff in my playlists but everything that sounds good will fit in.
