Video interview: Wembley 2021? Sports Team aim high

Sophie Dobschall May 21, 2019

This UK band have been shaking up the indie scene in a big way for around a year now – Sports Team are one of the most intriguing and characteristic bands on the rock horizon who are deniably doing their own thing – even if I can’t quite put my finger on what makes them so unique and fascinating. They’ve seen an overwhelming response with UK audiences, managing to sell out first London’s Scala, and then Electric Ballroom – joking about the fact that they have less Twitter followers than the venues’ capacities.

Sports Team is refreshingly straight forward albeit never giving away too much, and floats somewhere between sophisticated sarcasm and playfully confident. Enjoy my interview with guitarists Robert and Henry as well as singer Alex before they dashed to the pub to meet friends ahead of an absolute riot of a show. We cover topics like their new EP “Keep Walking!”, jumping challenges and attempting to book Wembley Arena as well as their overconsumption of eggs!
